Southern Italy's Puglia region occupies what is known as the "heel" of the "Italian boot". Ceglie Messapica is also a gastronomic delight, offering visitors many fine restaurants to choose from. The surrounding hills are home to ancient grottoes and caves that were probably once inhabited.
